A taste of adventure

The Heart Of The Matter

Thursday 25th June 2020 5.45 -7pm

“There are people who prefer to say 'yes' and there are people who prefer to say 'no'. Those who say 'yes' are rewarded by the adventures they have. Those who say 'no' are rewarded by the safety they attain.”

This session is the prequel to a bigger adventure for women I will facilitate this autumn.

This session offers the opportunity to go on a fun and contemplative mini-adventure. It offers the chance to visit our own magical inner landscape through story, creative exploration and sharing.

Many of us have been profoundly moved, in our own ways, by this year so far. To help us to accept and creatively respond to the impermanence and uncertainties in our lives, it can be very helpful to approach the current reality with a “beginner’s mind.”  This is a concept from Zen Buddhism which means having the ability to look at something with fresh eyes, like a child seeing something for the first time. Children are often more able than adults to perceive things with openness and wonder. This fresh perspective can give us access to new ideas and understanding.

In this session Karin will tell a short story of a courageous woman’s journey. In response to the story, you are invited to take part in a simple and accessible creative activity to playfully recognise inner resources you might have in common with the heroine in the story. We are all creative and courageous beings with life experience, skills and knowledge that we rarely give ourselves credit for. We may have called on our strengths in the current crisis and we may have learnt important things about ourselves.

This session aims to:

  • Help you appreciate yourself as the heroine in your own story

  • Put you in touch with resources you already have

  • Inspire you to playfully develop your resourcefulness further

The mini-adventure includes:

  • A short story illustrating a heroine’s journey, told by Karin

  • A creative exercise to help you reflect on the meaning of the story for you

  • Time to share any insights with others so we can learn from each other as well as ourselves
