Progressing with mindfulness

Suitable for:

This day is suitable for anyone who has some experience of mindfulness, yoga, Kum Nye or a mindful movement discipline for example tai chi or qigong.

Does it involve difficult or strong exercises?

Practices explored will be very gentle and slow and are designed to improve awareness of the body and the breath. It will be very safe for people with back problems for example.

What will we be doing?

We will alternate physical movement with sitting in meditation (for up to 15 - 30 minutes at a time) and all meditations will be guided by Karin (with brief periods of silence). Chairs are available and many people choose to sit on chairs for meditation.

The day will be informal and will also include short presentations and talks on aspects of mindfulness, and there will be time for discussion and questions and answer sessions, advice on personal practice and useful books on mindfulness. We will also practice guided deep relaxation.

Do I need to take notes?

You will be provided with electronic handouts from the day, summarising presentations and meditation practices for you to practice at home. But please feel free to bring a notebook and pen if you think you might like to take your own notes.

​CDs with recorded mindfulness practices will be for sale for £7.50.
