YOGA FOUNDATION COURSE 1 in Canterbury 2019
About the course
This course is an excellent way to deepen your knowledge and understanding of yoga. It includes practical and theoretical work on the eight limbs of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, including: the ethical foundations of yoga, asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practices), relaxation, concentration and meditation practices and yoga philosophy. We will also cover the history of yoga, and some of the different paths and schools of yoga. It includes private tutorials with tutors which may be done by phone/Skype.
It is intended for students who would like to develop their knowledge of yoga further and/or for those who may wish to train as yoga teachers to provide them with a foundation of knowledge to take into teacher training.
The course is designed to explore yoga in much more depth than you would in an average class. As part of the course, you can expect to develop the confidence and knowledge to build and develop your own personal yoga practice as well as to gain a much deeper insight into all aspects of yoga. Former students have found the foundation courses life-changing. The course is also highly recommended as a foundation before undertaking yoga teacher training (and a requirement for BWY teacher training).
Requirements for participation:
Approximately two years class experience or equivalent (you may have only practised for one year but have attended more than one class a week or workshops / retreats on top of a weekly class)
A commitment to developing and deepening your own personal practice of yoga.

NEXT INTRODUCTION MORNING
An opportunity to meet the tutors, experience their teaching, get a taste of what the course will be like and to ask questions before committing to the course. You can sign up for the course without attending this but it is recommended you do, especially if you don’t know the tutors.
Please only book if you are seriously considering doing the Foundation Course as we are likely to be oversubscribed.
Of course we hope you will be able to attend all 10 days. However if you are unable to, we will ask a study buddy (another student) to keep in touch with you and we will make sure you receive electronic resources for the day that you have missed. You need to attend 80% of the course to be able to receive the BWY accreditation. We are not able to offer private tuition to replace dates missed (BWY policy) but we can give you a letter confirming how much you did attend.
There are no formal assessments or homework as part of this course but you will get the most out of it if you can commit to a regular personal yoga practice, going through what we cover on the course between meetings and reading through the additional resources we provide. You will also be encouraged to keep a reflective journal of your personal practice which will help you embed your learning.
